About the Brand

Hubert de Givenchy’s story began in the days when fashion designers were mostly white-coated craftsmen who redefined fashion from their tailoring benches in Paris. Givenchy left his hometown in 1934 at the age of 17, heading for Paris to apprentice with a constellation of couturiers, including Jacques Fath, Robert Piguet, and Lucien Lelong. The first Givenchy collection opened in 1952, and just two years later, the designer’s clientele comprised fashion icons from around the globe, counting Elizabeth Taylor, Greta Garbo, and Jacqueline Kennedy among his fans. Today, the house is led by Creative Director Riccardo Tisci, who took the helm in 2005.
